RaisinDB Now Available on maravilla.cloud: One Versioned Database for Content, Graphs, Vectors and Search

Basel, Switzerland, 20 May 2026. Maravilla Labs today made RaisinDB available as a managed service on maravilla.cloud. Partner organizations can now provision their own RaisinDB tenant next to the applications they run on the Maravilla edge runtime.

RaisinDB has been publicly available as source-available software since autumn 2025. Until now, using it meant operating it yourself. With this release, it becomes part of the same platform partners already use for source code, builds, deployment and runtime.

What Partners Get

Each partner organization can provision a dedicated RaisinDB tenant from maravilla.cloud and receives its administrator credentials directly. Applications running on the Maravilla edge runtime reach their tenant over an internal path during server-side rendering, without a round trip over the public internet.

The release is backed by a round of multi-tenant hardening in RaisinDB itself, version 0.1.19, which separates tenants across the data plane, the management plane, the administration console and signed URLs.

One Database Instead of Several

Content-heavy applications and AI features usually combine several systems: a document store, a search engine, a vector database, a graph database and custom code to keep versions. RaisinDB keeps all of these in one Rust binary on top of RocksDB and speaks the PostgreSQL wire protocol, so existing SQL tools can connect to it.

  • Versioning: Git-like branches, merges and time-travel queries over the entire content tree.
  • Search: Full-text search and vector search with HNSW indexes, loaded from memory-mapped files at startup.
  • Graphs: Relationships between content, graph algorithms and GRAPH_TABLE queries in SQL.
  • Geospatial: Location-aware queries on the same data.
  • Embeddings: Embeddings generated through configurable providers, including self-hosted Ollama models.

Why Versioning Matters for AI Work

When an AI agent changes data, the most useful question is often what exactly it changed. In RaisinDB, a task can work on its own branch, and its changes can be reviewed, compared and merged back, or thrown away. The same model lets editorial teams prepare content without touching what is live.

Source-Available, With a Path to Apache 2.0

RaisinDB is published under the Business Source License 1.1. Its source code is public, and it may be used in production, including inside commercial products, as long as it is not offered as a hosted database service that competes with Maravilla. Each version converts to the Apache 2.0 license four years after its release.

Organizations that prefer to run RaisinDB on their own infrastructure can continue to do so. The managed service on maravilla.cloud is an additional option, not a requirement.

Availability

RaisinDB on maravilla.cloud is available to organizations in the maravilla.cloud partner program. Documentation is published at book.raisindb.com, and the command-line tool is available on npm as @raisindb/cli.
